Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Ceremony of Remembrance WW II On Sunday 4 May, the Netherlands commemorate all those who fell during World War II and other armed conflicts. A Ceremony of Remembrance will be held at the Netherlands-Australia Memorial - adjacent to Russell Offices, Sir Blamey Square, Canberra, at 11.30 am. Since the end of the Second World War, the Dutch have observed the 4th of May as a day of reflection, a day to honour the victims of war. Each year Dutch people in the Netherlands and abroad gather to commemorate the members of the armed forces and civilians who lost their lives in the Second World War. Remembrance Day is a tribute to all Dutch victims of war. Special honour is paid to civilians and members of the armed forces who fell in the Second World War and to all Dutch nationals who have lost their lives since in other wars or in peacekeeping operations. The ceremony will be hosted by Mr. Eric Strating, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Mr. Paul Couvret OAM, the National President of Netherlands Ex-Service Men & Women’s Association in Australia.
