| New EU rules for hand luggage |
| Sunday, 26 November 2006 00:00 | ||||
Effective November 6, 2006 passengers of all flights departing EU airports and connecting flights departing EU airports must respect new security rules for hand luggage. Passengers are only allowed to take small quantities of liquids e.g. toiletries and cosmetics, in their hand luggage: These liquids must be in individual containers with a maximum capacity of 100 millilitres each. Passengers must pack these containers in one transparent, re-sealable plastic bag of not more than one litre capacity per passenger. Passengers have to present all liquids carried to the screeners at security checkpoints for examination. Medicines and dietary requirements including baby foods for use during the flight are allowed but passengers may be asked for proof that they are needed. Products purchased in duty free shops at EU airports or on board of an EU-airline, may be carried in a special sealed bag with a proof of purchase of the same day. The bag is sealed at the point of purchase. Please consider that if you are travelling on a flight with a transfer flight departing from an EU airport you may only take liquids on board of your transfer flight if you have bought them on board or in a duty free shop within the European Union. Please consider also that due to extensive security checks at the EU airports waiting times may increase.
